My Daughter

Why is it great to have a daughter?
1. She calls her mom every day.
2. We can talk about girl stuff.
3. She's compassionate.
4. She doesn't send me text messages.....well, not many anyway.
5. We could share clothes if I was skinnier.
6. She likes to sing while I play the piano.
7. When we watch a sad movie together, there's someone to cry with me.
8. It's like having a best friend.

I hope when my daughters are grown we're as close as you are to yours.
I love #7 -- I cry during sad movies too and my guys make fun of me. It will be nice to have someone to cry with one day :)

Okay... what's that verse... do not covet the relationship between thy fellow blogger and her daughter? Sounds wonderful... My son is only 8, but I can start praying for a daughter-in-law, right?

This is SO sweet, Kathy!!! :-) I wish I could call my Mom every day or more often than just once or twice a month he he he...

But now my Mom's best friends would be my brother and his wife he he he...

This brought to mind a saying I heard on the Mary Tyler Moore show. "A sons a son till he takes a wife. A daughter a daughter all her life."
When my first daughter was born I was up in the middle of the night with her the first week of her life and heard this saying. I remember it to this day.

Nina, I'm sure you will be very close. You are building that relationship right now. But I have to admit, we had some rough years there when she was a teenager.

Sheri, having a son is just as special. In fact, it's so special that I get tears in my eyes just thinking about my mother/son relationship.

BP, that's great. I love my mother so much and she is a wonderful mother, but I didn't feel that freedom to share everything with her when I was young like Leah does with me.

Amel, I know your mother cherishes the times that you are able to call her. I know she misses you!

Sandi, I've heard that saying also. I think that is very true. It's hard for mothers to give up their sons to another woman!
