T.G.I.F.!!!

I'm having one of those "mommy" days. Most of the time I am completely fine with my empty nest, but once in a while I start thinking about those days when my kids were little and how cute they were. When Aaron was really young, I guess he caught the excitement of "Friday" from us because when he would get up on Friday mornings, he would say, "It's Friiiiidaaaaayyy!" and he had his own hand motions to go with it complete with little boy sound effects. It's just one of those things you never forget about your kids.

One of those special memories we have of Leah is when she was about 3 years old, we went on a little trip to Desoto State Park in northeast Alabama. It's always been one of our favorite places to go. On the over three hour trip back home she was so tired out that she fell asleep in her car seat. We tried to stop somewhere to see some waterfalls but she just couldn't wake up. So we just had to forget about that and continue our ride home, and we never heard a peep out of her the whole trip back. So, right when got into our city I told Eddie to stop at McDonalds to get something for supper. We thought she was still sleeping because she hadn't made a sound for three hours, but the minute we pulled into McDonalds we heard this sleepy little voice in the back seat say, "I want a happy meal." It was so cute and so funny that we still think about it this many years later.

And since I'm having this mommy day, I'll leave a link to one of my favorite posts about my kids called Doors.

I can sure relate to this post.

I miss my babies too! '

Love Ya,

Lori

I've been trying to send out a little something to both of my children who have moved away.

Aaron just received his box of cookies last night. I got a text message this morning saying they were super good. He and his Navy buddies were waiting all week to receive the box.

I'm making my girl some cookies on Sunday. I bought the stuff to make her her favorites.

I say all that to say that it really helps me with my mommy moment when I do something for them.

I remember a time that we were coming back from a family reunion in Annapolis MD. It was extremely hot that weekend and my Dodge Omni did not have air conditioning so we drove home overnight. Our children were 8-Martha, 6-Sylva, and 4-Adam. I had thought everybody else, including my wife were asleep but when I was driving through a tunnel on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I take a look in my rear view mirror, I see Adam's head pop up and he was looking around, an image that sticks in my head to this day.

Yes, what a thoughtful post... Excuse me while I run up the stairs and hug my 8 year old who is playing Star Wars with his Legos and listening to Adventures in Odyssey while wearing a Jeff Gordon costume because today was Wacky Day at school!

I miss my children as well! Our 17 year old thinks he's ready to leave and knows so much more than his "really, really old and completely out of touch with reality" parents!

I would love to go back to the time when he thought Mom and Dad were the greatest!

I remember carrying my son asleep into a Joe's Crab Shack. He was just little, about one, I guess. He was sound asleep on my shoulder but then minute we walked in and he heard the music he sat straight up and started bopping around.

I have something for you on my blog, too.
