8 Things

I saw this on Live Out Loud's blog, thought it was very interesting and decided to give it a try myself. It's 8 random facts about me that you may not already know. You can try it, too, if you'd like. If you have a blog, you're supposed to post a list yourself, but if you don't, feel free to leave it in the comments or email me. Either way, it's a fun idea.

1. I have three sisters, one older than me and two younger. No brothers. The other middle sister and I look like dad, and the oldest and youngest look like mom.

2. I love snow-skiing in Colorado, though I've only been there twice -- once when I was 20 and once when I was 40. I also went to ski in West Virginia once.

3. I don't like tomatoes, but I love salsa.

4. Sunsets and sunrises are a couple of my favorite things in the world. To me, sunsets represent peace and sunrises represent hope.

5. My job requires me to work in three different buildings three times each day. I walk down the street to each one and have to be prepared for all kinds of weather conditions.

6. I got married on a Friday night in 1980; a favorite TV show at that time was "Dallas"; my wedding guests complained that I had my wedding on the night they were supposed to find out who shot J.R.

7. I sunbathed too much as a teenager and young adult -- the result was a melanoma skin cancer found in my early 30's. Thankfully, it was in the early stages and was removed. I still have to get checked out by a dermatologist once a year to make sure it hasn't returned.

8. I don't wear a diamond ring because I don't have one. I lost the diamond from my engagement ring during the first couple years of marriage, so he bought me a whole new ring. Then I lost that whole ring on a cold day when it slipped off my finger.

Hi, Kathy!

Interesting facts! ;-D

I couldn't help laughing when reading about "Dallas". It was also huge in Indo when I was a kid (I was born in 1978) he he he...

Ouch...sorry to hear about melanoma. Glad it wasn't bad! Hope it will NEVER come back!!!

Ouch again about the wedding rings. Yeah, one bad thing about rings is that they may slip off your finger.

One day I'm moving to Colorado. I promise. When I do you and your daughter can come skiing anytime you want. Oh yeah, my WV ski trip has nothing on CO.

Hi Amel, Yeah I thought that was pretty funny, too, that people complained about missing their Dallas show. How was I to know when I planned my wedding?

Frasypoo, Yeah, that was pretty upsetting losing those diamonds. Thankfully, I'm not the type who gets so attached to "things" that it mattered all that much. I have never gone skiing in NC, but it's a lot closer so I should really try it sometime.

Matt, I will hold you to that offer! I LOVE Colorado! Thanks!

Nice list, that's a good quick way to find out more about somebody -- I don't think I've ever made it all the way through anybody's "100 things about me list".
Sorry about the rings. My husband lost his wedding ring shoveling snow the winter after we married. I don't wear mine any more because it's too tight and I haven't got around to getting it stretched.

On the topic of wedding rings,my husband broke an emerald in his(we dont have the conventional bands)and asked a local jeweller to repair it,The guy messed it up and we had to buy him another. Not an easy job as the Indian store we bought it from is a high end on and costs an arm and a leg and not to mention that they did not make them anymore. So we special ordered one,my brother flew to a differant state and my mother brought it here.
It was either this or he was not going to wear a band!

Haha re: wedding ring. My husband lost his within a month of our getting married. Came off while he was washing his hands in the operating theatre. Got returned by a kind nurse and promptly lost it again. Don't want to think about where it's gone ...
I don't wear one either cos (a) husband not wearing one (b) took it off when got pregnant in case it got stuck and never put it back. Got a lot of stares initially for looking obviously pregnant with no wedding ring !

But I figure it's the marriage that counts !!

Interesting! I remember that time in the "Dallas" era. That was a huge event. But hey - it was all a dream - oh that was a different episode!!! :)

I lost my wedding ring twice but still have the original. Too long for a comment but kind of interesting. The first time took me 6 months to find it.

Melanoma is a scary thing. It can be dangerous so I'm thankful they caught it early.

Thank you for the post. It is always fun to read interesting things about others.
