Wake Up Call

Sometimes you get a wake up call from God. What I mean is that something happens in your life that makes you stop and realize that you are not the one in control here. This wake up call can come in many different forms -- it might be something that scares you into realizing that you need to be praying; it might be an illness or an accident of someone in your family; it might be a stressful situation that you're facing; or it might be a dream.

The important thing about this wake up call is that you see it for what it is. And then do something about it! When you get a wake up call from God, it means it's time to start completely trusting him to "run the show" or in other words, to control your life. Realize that it is time to pray and center your life around God and what he wants for your life. It also might be a time to look at your life and see if you are doing things that you know are not right. If you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit will show you what is wrong in your life. And even if you don't consider yourself a Christian, you still have a conscience.

So.......if you think God has given you a wake up call, then please listen to it. I get wake up calls and it always sends me straight to my Bible to search for guidance, comfort and answers. The wake up calls also cause me to pray more. This is how God can talk to me and tell me what to do.

(This is a blog I did on myspace before I had this blog. Most of my posts on myspace were things I wanted to say to my daughter -- I figured it would be easier to get her to read them there than to try to verbally tell her these things. Something pretty scary had happened in her life and I really felt like she was getting a wake up call from God.)

Kat,

What you said is so true! That is why I have been having the troubles that I told you about, finding a church. It had never bothered me before and I have always believed with all of my being that He would take care of me. I never worried about anything, I knew I was taken care of, until I found out a friend was going to die. My faith faultered and I felt insecure. I had a wake up call and now I am getting back on track, I have also come to the realization I don't need a church to be happy in Christ. God will let me know where I am to serve and I will wait to hear where He thinks I should be. May Happiness brighten your days. :)

Wake up calls come in all forms. It's always best that you ask for prayer, but seek Bible based advice. Too often you will get unsolicited advice from those who want to push doctrine on you.

It's best when we give advice, we give it out of love and not out of pride.

Kathy - I had one of those this past week. My mother called me at 2:30 Wednesday morning to tell me they were putting my dad in ICU with kidney failure after a routine knee replacement. He was there for 3 1/2 days. I drove to Houston from the panhandle of Texas, praying the entire way that God would spare my dad. See - he's not a Christian and I knew the outcome if he left this earth. However, he also did not and does not want to hear about Jesus. My prayer is that he sees this as his wake up call.

Thanks for letting me share and for the post.
