Are You Sincere?

Before I started this blog, I wrote a few blogs on my Myspace page. Even though I didn't have any readers, I knew that my daughter would read it there, so most of my blogs back then were things I wanted to say to her. Today I am posting one I did there in January 2007.

Are You Sincere?
I say that I am a Christian and I really am, but I hope that I never do anything in my life that causes other people to question whether that is true or not. Anyone can say "I'm a Christian," but the Bible says that we are known by the fruit in our lives. It really bothers me when someone says they are a Christian, but then I don't see anything in their life that has anything to do with Christianity. I hope that the way I live my life is proof to other people that I am a true believer. While I know that doing "good works" and being a good person is not what saves me, I do believe that a saved, born again believer in Jesus Christ will strive to be a good person simply because of their love for the Lord. I want my life to always bring honor and glory to God. If I'm using foul language, hating other people, gossiping, having a horrible attitude, etc., that would not bring honor and glory to the Lord, and it would make other people wonder if I really am a Christian.

So.....if you say that you belong to Christ, please live the way you would if he was by your side every minute of the day.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Matthew 7:21

Kathy: Good post! I have heard that the only gospel some people might read will be the way you live your life.

You never know who may be watching you and the way you live! There have been many times someone told me later they watched as we went through different things in our lives. We never knew but God knows what the people around us need to see. HE gives us the opportunities to be salt and light. It is up to us to walk our talk!

Thanks for the reminder, Kathy!

"I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day;
I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear;
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs..." From a poem by Edgar Guest. Thanks for your gentle reminder - someone is always watching!

Blessings!

I wish I could say that I always lived in a way pleasing to the Lord, but I fail way too often.
