Friends

I just realized something. I miss my blogger friends posts when they take a day or two off from blogging! I enjoy reading about your lives, your families, your adventures, your struggles, and I love reading your thoughts and meditations on our Savior. This blogging journey has been such an unexpected blessing to my life! I've always been a little bit wary of meeting people online, but I feel like I know some of you so well that I would love to get to meet you in person one day. When I started this blog, I thought no one would ever read it and I thought that after a couple of weeks I would be out of things to say. I've surprised myself by being able to write over 100 posts already!

So, to all my blogger friends, please keep writing. You encourage and entertain me. You teach me and touch my heart. You help me and humble me. You inform and intrigue me. I look forward to reading your blogs for many months to come.

Now, just so I can learn what things are like in different parts of the country, and even different countries, please tell me if you have ever eaten grits. Grits are a typical part of a southern breakfast, but it seems like some people from the north haven't eaten grits. A good hearty breakfast in Alabama would be eggs, grits, bacon or sausage and toast or biscuits. I don't eat that much because I prefer a light breakfast and something that's easy and quick like a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese spread. What is a typical breakfast in your area?

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3

Well, I love grits....You going to the Bama, I mean Mississippi State game this weekend?? My good friend scheduled his wedding this weekend. I've been trying to talk him out of so we could go to the game. Too bad he's whipped. I'll probably have my cowbell at the wedding. I'm so glad I found your blog Kathy. Actually I think we began blogging at the same time. That makes us Best Blogging Buddies, right??

He he he...I KNOW what you mean, Kathy. When I first started, I thought my blog would only interest a few people...I never thought I could have SO MANY friends. Plus it's fascinating how we learn from one another and how we share good things through the internet, isn't it?

Breakfast, eh? Well, Finnish people eat rice porridge with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon. My hubby doesn't eat breakfast. He only drinks a cup of coffee and a bun. I eat whatever leftover there is from yesterday's meal. Even back in Indo, I ate anything for breakfast. ;-D

Eh, forgot to say that I have never tried eating grits and bacon he he he he...

Kathy,

First, I happen to like grits, but hardly ever eat them. Now I am the recognized breakfast chef in the house, but Mrs74WIXYgrad isn't much of a breakfast person. She likes bacon cooked crisp and a waffle. Every once in a while I do make a breakfast wrap that is vary popular with my family. I don't make this often since it is time consuming to make and most cardiologists would shudder at the thought of it when I would tell of the ingredients. But then again, I could have probably been Elvis' personal chef.

I am looking forward to catching up on several good posts from you when I get home from vacation.

Have a great week. I will be back here on the 18th.

Yes, Matt, we are BBB's! I found your blog from the help group thingy and what you put in there was so funny that I was hooked before I ever saw your blog. No, I won't be going to the game, but I'll watch it on TV.

Amel, I've never eaten rice porridge, but it's probably similar to grit except that grits would be like a corn porridge. I sometimes eat leftovers for breakfast too.

74wixygrad, I have a breakfast burrito that I like to make sometimes. Enjoy your vacation!

Frasypoo, I'm glad you've learned our southern ways. Southern men need their grits!

Kathy,
I too miss people when they don't post. It is like not hearing from family in awhile.
I never had grits. I am from the northeast so maybe so day I will travel south and and try them. My breakfast is a bowl of cheerios if I eat at home. If we go out for breakfast it is eggs and toasts.

I have had grits, but I had them in the south. I like them. You don't see them on breakfast menus here.
At home the kids eat cereal and I usually have an egg and some hashbrowns. My husband likes oatmeal.

Bp, I hope you can try some grits one day. They are really good with cheese on top. Of course, I love cheese on everything!

Sandi, yes, maybe you can come down south and try some grits! I think my son is in your state tonight.

Kay, I am glad to hear that you've had grits. I like hashbrowns also, but I only have them if I go to a restaurant.

I enjoy reading others blogs as well, just usually have to do a lot of catching up on my days off!! =) I've never had grits. A typical weekday breakfast for me is a protein drink, and maybe a Bumblebee bar. Sometimes on Saturdays, we have either homemade belgian waffles or huckleberry pancakes.

Kathy - what a wonderfully thoughtful post! I feel the same way... but I often wonder why more of my pre-blog friends don't leave comments. They insist on e-mailing me... or just reading and moving on in their day. Sometimes, I'll ask if people have read my blog lately... and they'll say they have... and I would never know! How sad!

Grits... I think I tried them as a kid and didn't like them. Next time I'm in the South... I'll try again.

Breakfast for me in Portland, OR... a bowl of cereal with banana and a cup of coffee -- with cream and splenda, please!

Kathy - I enjoy your blog immensely. I haven't been doing this for very long. I was much more faithful at the beginning but it began to take over my life, so had to step back for a while. When you spend more time on the computer than with your family, it's not a good thing - kind of makes it an idol (HMMM - idea for a blog in the future).

Anyway - I have had grits but do not really like them. My spouse loves them with butter and sugar or with cheese.

I do not eat breakfast during the week (but do have my 2 cups of coffee!!!) but do cook on Saturday mornings. We have about 5 things that I rotate to fix on those days.

Thank you for sharing!

What a sweet post - Kathy, I will never forget when I first started blogging, and told everyone I know in real life about my blog, then expectantly checked my blog every day, sometimes several times a day for the comments I just knew they would leave me when they read my blog. Because of COURSE they would read it. But every day, I would be so disappointed to see a big fat zero at the end of my posts. And then one day... someone left a comment. Yeah girl it was you ! Thank you for that.
And since this comment is way too long already, I think I'm going to write a whole post about grits. Yes, you've inspired me. I'm off.

Having gotten hooked recently on blogging, and then having a somewhat "forced" absence, I was surprised by how much I missed getting to post, and reading others' posts...there were days I thought I was having BWS (Blogging Withdrawal Syndrome)!

I LOVE Grits, but then I'm a Southern girl, born & bred...my father was a Yankee, though (Brooklyn, at that!) and had NO idea what we saw in grits...but he made them for us anyway...that's love! (he was the cook in our family)

My typical breakfast: pour a cup of coffee, drink half, let the rest get cold, pour NEW cup of coffee, drink half, pour it out & go to work...

But my Favorite breakfast foods, all of which I sometimes eat for dinner:
Grits
Pancakes
Bacon or really GOOD sausage

or what we always called Hopple-Popple (I don't know WHY): Scrambled eggs with potatoes, cheese, sausage, and whatever else you want to throw in!

Ever have Charleston Shrimp Grits? oh man, that's good eatin'...
