Why I started blogging

I am interested in finding out why different bloggers started blogging. My original reason for starting a blog was so different from the reason I am doing it now.

I didn't really know anything about blogging, and the only one I had read was one that was created by people in my church to keep everyone updated on a boy who had been in a very serious accident. Other than that, I'd had no exposure to blogging.

Early one Saturday morning I was watching the Today Show, and someone was talking about different ways to earn money on the internet. They told about Payperpost.com where you can blog about different products, services, etc., and get paid for it. I thought that would be an easy way to make a little extra money since I love doing internet stuff anyway. So, that was my reason (at that time) for creating Kathy's Klavier. But after looking around and searching for other blogs to read to learn more about blogging, I became so interested in some of the good ones I found that I kept going back each day to read more. I decided to get mine established by just writing about things in my life and then I would try the payperpost thing. Well, after about two months of blogging, I've sort of forgotten my original reason of wanting to make money because I've met such wonderful bloggers whose blogs I look forward to reading each day. And what amazes me even more is that there are actually a couple of people out there who look forward to reading mine! Thanks to my new blog friends for your writings and your encourgements. And thanks to those who read mine.

What was your reason for starting a blog?

Kathy, your blog blows mine out of the water any day.
I started blogging in hopes of making money, friends, fame and meeting girls. None of them panned out. Oh yeah, did you tell your daughter I winked at her? JK. I really started mine out of being bored at work. I love it now. Keep writing Kathy, I love yours too.

Hello, I like your blog alot, as I can tell your an honest and nice person that is devotful in your religion. Although I can't say the same with me as I became atheist years ago from the fuss of religion (please don't try to change me).

Other than that small differance I hope we can be blogging friends, as I am starting a new blog known as "http://avidenkanashimi.blogspot.com" and I'd like to read your blog as you read mine.

The reason why I wanted to start blogging is to actually have that small hole in my heart to be filled with the love of friends...not boys okay +laughs+...I am not the type of person to get friends very easily, that are like me, and I don't mind any kind of friend...whether of race, religion, fashion style, or sexual orientation, I'd like to be their friend. Also in my blog, I could say that it's a web-diary that people can actually comment on, instead of the normal people diary everyone keeps as a taboo to read type of thing.

Again I hope we can be blogging friends as you can read my blog as I read yours.

I had to start a blog. Nobody else was revealing the Secrets of the Universe, and I figured *somebody* had to do it.

I started blogging to winge about everything I thought was wrong life, laws, politics etc. I ended up having too much fun to winge and have made lots of virtual friends, I do it for fun and to keep me sane. Love it!

I started to blog to relieve the need to blab. I used to keep a diary but prefer the neatness and ease that comes with a blog. I like reading about other people's lives/thoughts. I like looking back at what I have been doing. Sometimes it is just nice to express oneself into the anonymous world of blogging. Linda

Good question! I started because it's a way of interacting with the world, without anyone else knowing - kinda judgement free. Also, in a hope of meeting other teenagers who blog aswell. It's really good.
You can also keep up to date with a whole lot in the world, from an unlimited variety of perspectives.
Also, I don't like sites like myspace or facebook, so I needed somewhere else to go :)

Hmmm...well, I started my own blog in Friendster a long time ago, but nobody really responded. Since moving to Finland (and finding it hard to find friends here), I told myself I'd better try to gain more exposure. So I opened an account at blogger and decided to continue writing there. Actually writing has always been a very good outlet for me.

However, I never thought that blogging would turn out to be SO therapeutic and rewarding. It makes me feel that I have SO MANY friends out there. And the good thing is that my friends can come anytime they want to without "bothering" me...they don't have to set up appointments with me. They can just browse around my posts and go after or without leaving comments.

So for me, having an online community has been really FANTASTIC in helping me cope with moving to a new country. ;-D I think it's God's way of showing me how GREAT He's in taking care of me. I never thought that I could feel that my life would be THIS complete. Blogging is one of the puzzle pieces in my life that makes my life feels complete. It gives me purpose of life. ;-D

I started mine out as something to do at work, and maybe a way to make a little extra money part time. I'm still working on getting established. I watch my traffic obsessively, so feel free to come by!

Hi Kathy,
My friend forced me to!I used to write a lot when I was young and everyone has been on my case about working on a book.I have always been scared of finding out that I was mediocre so a blog was the best way to find out!! I now have 4 !!! I need to start one more but have restrained myself!
I am a housewife without kids so I can find the time to keep up.The house is quite dusty somedays though!!!
Have had fun making friends and am actually amazed that people enjoy reading it!!

I started blogging when A good friend of mine moved away. He would come over once a week and he and I would talk. When he moved I felt lost and alone and that I had no one to talk too. He had started a new job so we could not talk as much as we use too. I called him one day in tears because I was haveing some problems and I needed my friend, but I always felt that I was a bother to him. He told me about blogging so I checked out his. Ever since, I have loved to get on and write. I don't have as much time as I would like to devote to it but I greatly enjoy it when I do find the time. I also love going to yours. I have made it part of my day to day routine to check and see what you have written. I also like to make new friends through blogging so check out my blog at coolaid1073.blogspot.com

Kathy - I started blogging through encouragement from my spouse and daughter. They both believed in me and so here I am. I absolutely love it! I too feel I have friends around the world and enjoy reading the different blogs every day! There are days that I miss posting to mine and reading others. When I do - I find I really miss that time.

I didn't even know you could make money with your blog. I do have Adsense through Google, but I don't have anything from that.

I enjoy reading your thoughts and find that we are probably a lot alike! :) Keep up the good work.

Grace to you!

Ha ha ! I think we will get along pretty well !! I started blogging (a) because I was bored. recently had baby, now 6 months old and pretty much home-bound.
(b) Wanted to see what blogging was all about and not feel so old and out of touch
(c) clicked on a google ad and naively believed that people could really make lots of money by blogging without too much effort on their part
(d) now am hooked on just creating websites cos I love the templates and
(e) it's actually really fun meeting new friends from all over the world !
