For anyone who has been reading this blog for a while, you might remember a post I did last September about my neighbor's dog. If you haven't read it or don't remember it, you can read it here.....Love Your Neighbor's Dog. Back then, I thought I had a problem. I wish this one was that simple.
Well, here is an update about the house next door. Those people moved out of the house but didn't sell it. They are renting the house to a young couple with two young children. The new people living there have now gotten some dogs and to me they look like pit bulls. I have heard too many stories of pit bulls attacking people or other animals, so I am not happy about this. I know that I shouldn't be living in fear, though I also believe that fear is not all bad. We need a certain amount of fear to keep us safe from harm, but I think my fear of vicious dogs goes beyond that. I am praying a lot about this situation. There are also other things I see going on at this house next door that have me concerned. I'm really having to trust God to help me with all this. I've noticed that when someone else is going through a difficult situation, it's so much easier for me to tell them to trust in God than it is for me to actually trust God when I'm going through a difficult situation.
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. Psalm 56:3

Yes, its definitely easier said than done.
I understand all about fear, though.
I'll be praying Kathy.
Hi Kathy
It seemed to get worse.
I wonder why someone with kids would want pitbulls?
When the Vick and the pitbulls deal was going on,a few of the dog bloggers were trying to educate people about how dogs are conditioned to hate and when they grow in a loving environment they are not vicious but I have heard of random pitbulls attacking dogs for no reason.
So its definitely a question of parying about the problem.
That's a great verse you ended with. I'll pray for you.
Are the people nice? If they're nice, ask them to meet the dogs. Maybe that'll make you feel better.
Pitbulls themselves are not vicious. The majority of the ones that make the headlines are not actually pitbulls but end up labelled as such just to instill the fear in people.
The majority are dogs that bite are regular family dogs- cocker spaniels, golden retrievers, etc. Last time I checked, 91% of dog bites occurred in the home.
You're stronger than the dogs. You just have to learn how to defend yourself from them, as you have already learned to defend yourself from a 60lb human.
Pitbulls' jaws don't lock either, by the way. They're made like any other dog's jaw, only pitbulls have a lot of drive. They can use that drive for loving their people (they actually do really well around kids) or they can have their spirits warped by bad people and use the drive in a bad way (like in dog fights, for example).
All you have to do, Kathy, is meet one good one one day, and you'll see what I'm talking about. :)
Don't be afraid. Learn instead. :)
One thing though- some pitties aren't good with other dogs, so until you know how the dogs are with yours, keep an eye out (as with any dogs, really).
